As part of the CBSEs Bharatiya Bhasha initiative, the Literary Club of Surendranath Centenary School successfully organized the Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camp for Classes III–V from 8th June to 12th June to promote multilingual learning, cultural awareness, and appreciation of Indias rich linguistic heritage. Students enthusiastically participated in various activities focused on learning basic greetings, common expressions, numbers, and signatures in Indian languages such as Bengali, Odia, Urdu, Sadri, Gujarati, and Marwari. They also practised correct pronunciation, developed listening skills, and engaged in simple real-life conversations in different languages. A unique blend of language and culture was created through movie screenings with English subtitles, sessions on the geography and history of different regions, local traditions, regional cuisines, music, dance forms, multilingual antakshari, word-chain games, and tongue twisters. These activities helped them develop a deeper understanding of Indias cultural diversity. Students were introduced to Sign Language by Shiela Linda, an expert from a reputed NGO. The camp also witnessed active participation from parents and alumni, which added value to the programme and fostered a strong sense of community involvement. Madam Principal Ms. Samita Sinha appreciated the wholehearted participation of students in the Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camp, stating that the initiative helped them explore Indias rich linguistic and cultural diversity while reflecting their eagerness to learn beyond textbooks.
