The students of SCS celebrated Van Mahotsav week ( 1st July to 7th July, 2023) with great zeal and fervour under the aegis of Eco Club and Science Club. The theme for this year was `Think green, act green and live green` The students of Junior section undertook a variety of innovative and interesting activities which included badge making, slogan writing, painting the picture of trees through cotton dabbing, hand printing and block printing. Children also performed a stage show which included song, dance & a skit whereas the students of senior classes also participated in plethora of activities. Std VI to VIII students made beautiful head gears using leaves and flowers, they also took selfies with the plants to captivate the moment. Class VIII students presented a skit showing the importance of the trees which was an eye opener for the audience. Students of class IX were addressed by a parent, Dr. Ekhlaque Ahmed, a junior scientist & assistant professor in BAU, Ranchi. He shared valuable information about vegetation and forests. A poem writing contest was also held on this occasion for the students of IX to XII. Mrs. A. Sen, a senior faculty of SCS initiated a plantation drive by planting a sapling of Amla in the school premises. The entire school fraternity wore green colour attire on the concluding day and gifted potted plants to each other. Madam Principal Samita Sinha congratulated the Eco club members for their efforts in sensitizing the students towards their role in conserving the environment. She said that due to the irrational activities and never ending greed of humans, the real lifeline i.e., the forests are at the brink of over exhaustion and it's the high time , `Now or Never.` People ought to recognize their responsibility towards the mother Earth.
